Embracing Stillness: Finding Rest Amidst a Busy Work Life

Greetings! It has been some time since my last post. These past six weeks have presented a challenge to my family and me. We went from honoring my son turning another year older, to me facing some health challenges. Regardless, I am beyond blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with my family on my son's special day. In our family, we celebrate birthdays in a non-traditional way. We teach our sons that every day is a blessing, and we show love and appreciation towards one another every day of our lives, not just on one day. We also teach that birthdays or born days as we like to call them, are not about self, instead it is about gratefulness for life and celebrating the accomplishments while being blessed every day, we also believe that our born days are about giving back to others, and doing something kind for those that care for you. There is more I can share about birthdays and holidays, but this post is not about that.
During my period of healing and gradually returning to my usual routines, I had the opportunity to reflect, and I was compelled to rest, which is quite unusual for me if you know me well. My body was teaching me not only to listen to it more attentively but also to achieve a balance between work and rest. The Bible frequently contains scriptures that encourage us to find rest in the Most High. Taking time to rest is essential for us to remain steadfast and grounded in God. Consider Jesus, whom I prefer to call Yahusha (a name more closely related to what He was called during His time on earth); many instances show that He would take time to rest, pray, and seek our Father. For example, in Mark 1:35-37, Jesus departs while it is still dark to find solitude for prayer and to be still in the presence of our Abba (Father). This is how He regained His strength and stayed in tune with the power within Him. We often overlook the importance of pausing to recenter ourselves, which is imperative so that we can offer our best selves, not only to our families but also to ourselves.
Amid this challenge, I realized that by constantly staying busy, we overlook significant moments, which can hinder our growth. We also become accustomed to our minds being in constant motion, making it difficult to quiet them and concentrate on one thing. Personally, my mind is always racing, thinking about my next task. While this can be useful at times, it's not always beneficial to operate this way continuously. Therefore, I suggest taking time to calm your mind. Pray and meditate on Yahawah (Yahweh), the only name associated with God in the bible, and eliminate distractions. I strive to do this daily, sometimes multiple times a day. When I practice this, I notice a significant improvement in my mental state, experiencing peace and joy even when challenges arise.
As I return to my daily routine and pursue my goals and aspirations, I am consciously listening to my body. I am teaching myself to remain centered on God and maintain balance. I am learning to take breaks during work and also focus on enjoying time with my sons and husband.
I urge you to pay attention to your bodies and take the necessary time to rest and focus on the Most High. Begin your days with prayer, meditation on God, and reading scripture along with uplifting literature. This practice will assist you in accomplishing your tasks and seeking God's guidance throughout your day. Life is about achieving balance, with God at the core. Follow Jesus and the teachings provided to guide us. We can find the answers we need, as long as we continue to seek them. Spirituality is just one aspect of balance, we also have to maintain balance physically, what we feed our bodies, and how we care for our temples; mentally, feeding our minds with substance and positivity; and emotionally, this is a big one, and it requires discipline to not allow our emotions to lead. Once we work on balancing these four areas of our lives, we will begin to see ourselves flourish.
In our upcoming post, we'll concentrate on the physical aspects of balance. I'll discuss my
health journey and offer some tips and insights I've gained. Until then, I hope you discover valuable insights in this article that inspire you in your everyday life. I'd love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment or, if you'd like to connect, subscribe to our community.
